What is an in-app purchase (IAP)?

An in-app purchase is anything bought inside an app through the store — a subscription, a one-time unlock, or a pack of credits.

Both stores list an app's in-app purchase prices: Google Play as a range on the listing, the App Store as a list on the app's page. The highest one is usually the yearly plan or a lifetime unlock, and says a lot about what a user in the niche is worth.

Both stores take a commission of 15% to 30% on in-app purchases.
