How much commission do the App Store and Google Play take?

Both stores take 30% of digital sales as standard and 15% for small developers: Apple's Small Business Program covers developers earning up to $1M a year, and Google Play charges 15% on each developer's first $1M a year.

Subscriptions are cheaper too: on the App Store the commission falls to 15% after a subscriber's first year, and Google Play takes 15% on subscriptions from the start. Apple's programme needs an application; it is not automatic.

Rules for payments outside the store differ by country and have changed several times in recent years, so check the stores' current terms for the markets you sell in.
