A neglected app is one whose developer has not shipped an update in nine months or more — often a sign its users are waiting for a better alternative.
Stores favour apps that keep shipping, and users notice when bugs stay unfixed. A top ten with several neglected leaders is one of the clearest openings for a new app.
It is rarer than founders hope: in the typical US niche, only one or two of the top ten have gone quiet.
