What is an install band?

An install band is the download range Google Play prints on each listing — 10,000+, 1,000,000+ — a floor on how many times the app was installed.

It is the only public install figure either store gives. The real count sits somewhere above the floor, up to the next band.

The App Store shows no installs at all; there, rating counts stand in for them.
